Sports Massage Approaches for Injury Care
Massage for injury care is rehabilitative and clinically focused.
The massage therapist must bring together:
• Knowledge of injury pathology
• A deep grasp of anatomy and physiology
• Skilled assessment using client history, ROM and manual
muscle testing, orthopedic tests, and careful palpation
• A process of clinical reasoning to determine the best
approach to treatment, or the decision not to treat but to
refer out.
