The Art of the Stretch – How to Stretch Your Clients Safely and Effectively
Course Description: In this 8 hour workshop participants will expand their knowledge and confidence of giving their clients the perfect stretch to enhance the massage experience. We will have a short review of anatomy and normal range of motion, discuss the benefits of stretching and types of stretches and then learn how to stretch each motion for most of the major joints of the body. There will be lecture and lab, so participants will be able to practice techniques along with efficient body mechanics, allowing them to leave the class with the ability to apply what they have learned the next time they are with a client. We will also discuss the importance of educating clients to stretch themselves to carryover and reinforce the effects of the massage. As an added benefit we will also discuss stretches that are important for self care as a massage therapist to get out any stress or tightness after a day of work.
