Description

Course Description:

Participants will learn how to use heated Himalayan salt stones to perform a full-body massage so that you can offer this as an additional, unique massage session, and how to incorporate just a few of them when performing deep tissue techniques to reduce wear and tear on your hands, or as stationary placement stones for an added touch of warmth during your regular massage sessions day to day.

With 84 essential nutrients and minerals, the hand carved salt stones can help to re-mineralize the skin, reduce inflammation, and leave the client with a deep sense of relaxation, also the warmth of the stones helps to soften fascia and soothe tight muscles. This work can be deep, specific, and/or broad, and general depending on the client’s needs and the techniques used.

Himalayan salt stones are growing fast in popularity because of the benefits clients receive, and it is very easy to set up and clean.

Unlike all the work involved with traditional basalt hot stones, Himalayan salt stones do not require water and the temperature can be adjusted from warm to warm-hot for a variety of
conditions and heat preferences, which makes it easy to perform all year round without you,
your client, or your room getting overheated.

This course will focus on (but is not limited to):

  • The therapeutic effects and benefits of using both heat and Himalayan salt stones as a tool in your practice.
  • Indications and contraindications
  • How to handle the stones, how to warm them and how to sanitize them
  • How to perform a full body routine that you can customize
  • How to incorporate the use of essential oils into the modality

Participants are asked to register early, as this class requires you to purchase materials in advance that are needed for the class.

Participants are asked to bring:

  • Set of linens
  • Four (4) hand towels
  • Either fractionated coconut oil or Pure Pro Ultra Massage Oil
  • Two (2) large heating pads (approximately 12 in x 24 in, with 3 heat settings, and removable cover) – can be purchased through Massage Warehouse or Walgreens
  • One (1) set of either 18 ct or 20 ct Himalayan Salt Stones (containing six (6) round stones, six (6) oval stones, six (6) teardrop stones & *optional* two (2) heart-shaped stones) – can be purchased through Saltability or Massage Warehouse
